Anna Bongiorni began her track and field career in 2009 by earning a bronze in the 60m sprint at the Italian U18 Championships in Ancona. That summer, she ran in the 100m and 4x100m relay at the World Youth Championships in Bressanone but didnt make the finals in either event. At the European Youth Olympic Festival in Tampere, she placed 5th in the 200m and 7th in the 4x100m relay. Her standout moment came in Doha, where she won silver in the 100m at the Gymnasiade. Back in Italy, she shined in local meets, taking gold in the 100m at the Grosseto U18 Championships and the Quarrata Gran Prix Montepaschi. She also claimed silver in the same event at the Comacchio Club Championships and the Livorno Gran Prix Montepaschi.


In 2010, Anna Bongiorni joined the Singapore Youth Olympic Games. She took home a bronze medal in the 4x100m relay race. She also ran the 200m alone but came in 7th place. That year, she entered the national championships for the first time, running the 200m at the Grosseto Italian Championships. Sadly, she didnt make it to the final. Still, her season had big wins. She got a silver medal in the 60m race at the Ancona Italian U18 Indoor Championships. She earned gold in the 100m at the Rieti Italian U18 Championships and Castelnovo ne Monti. In the 200m, she grabbed silver at the Firenze Italian Club Championships and won gold at the Orvieto Italian Club Championships.
In 2011, Anna Bongiorni gained valuable experience and achieved her first national medal, taking home the bronze in the 200m at the Torino Italian Championships. She also excelled in the 4x100m relay, securing a silver medal at the Tallinn European Junior Championships. Additionally, she won gold in the 60m at the Ancona Italian Junior Indoor Championships. Her other accomplishments included a silver medal in both the 100m and 200m at the Bressanone Italian Junior Championships and Macerata Italian Club Championships, as well as a gold in the 100m at the Firenze Regional Championships and another gold in the 400m at the San Giuliano Terme Gran Prix Montepaschi.

In 2012, Anna Bongiorni missed nearly the entire season, competing only in regional championships. Her biggest competition that year was the 4x100m relay at the Barcelona IAAF World Junior Championships, where she failed to reach the finals.
The following year, 2013, saw Bongiorni earn a bronze medal in the 100m at the Rieti Italian U23 Championships. She also competed in the 400m at the Ancona Italian Indoor Championships, but again did not advance to the finals. 2014 was another weak year, with Bongiorni’s only notable result being a bronze in the 4x400m relay at the Milano Italian Club Championships.


Bongiorni returned to form in 2015. At the Torino Italian Championships, she won silver in the 100m and gold in the 4x100m relay. She then earned silver medals in the 4x100m relay at both the Tallinn European U23 Championships and the Cheboksary European Team Championships. Bongiorni also competed at the Beijing IAAF World Championships and the Zurich Weltklasse Golden League meet that year. At the individual Italian U23 and University Championships, she won gold in both the 100m and 200m events.
In 2016, Italian sprinter Anna Bongiorni enjoyed a breakout season, winning two national titles. She captured the 60m gold at the Ancona Italian Indoor Championships, and later added the 4x100m relay crown at the Rieti Italian Championships. Bongiorni also earned a bronze medal in the 4x100m relay at the prestigious Roma Golden Gala.


Bongiorni’s momentum continued in 2017, as she added two more national titles. She defended her 60m indoor crown in Ancona, and also won gold in the 4x100m relay at the Trieste Italian Championships, where she also claimed silver in the 100m and bronze in the 200m. On the international stage, Bongiorni earned 4x100m relay bronze at the Monaco Herculis meet and gold at the Villeneuve d’Ascq European Team Championships.
While Bongiorni came up short in the 60m final at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade, she bounced back at the Universiade in Taipei City, earning bronze in the 200m and finishing sixth in the 100m. The versatile Italian also won gold in the 200m at the Geneva AtletiCAGeneve and silver at the Lucerne Spitzen Leichtathletik meet.


In 2018, the Italian athlete, Anna Bongiorni, achieved notable success by earning bronze medals at the Tarragona Mediterranean Games in the 100m and 4x100m relay events. She showcased her dominance at the national championships, securing the 60m gold at the Ancona Italian Indoor Championships and the 4x100m gold, along with the 100m bronze, at the Pescara Italian Championships. Anna Bongiorni also competed at the Birmingham IAAF World Indoor Championships and Berlin European Athletics Championships, although she did not advance to the finals in these prestigious events.
Moving on to 2019, Anna Bongiorni began the indoor season with the notable accomplishment of winning the 60m bronze at the Italian Indoor Championships. The outdoor season proved to be eventful for Anna Bongiorni in the 4x100m relay, as she achieved 7th place at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics, 6th place at the Wuhan CISM Military World Games, and 6th place at the Zurich Weltklasse. Additionally, she secured the bronze at the Bressanone Italian Championships but experienced a 5th place finish at the Bydgoszcz European Athletics Team Championships and the Yokohama IAAF World Relays.


In 2020, Anna Bongiorni achieved notable success in various athletics meetings. She secured the 100m gold at the 9th Meeting International Citta di Savona and 13th Triveneto Meeting in Trieste. Additionally, she clinched the 100m bronze at the Trieste Italian Championships and 56th Palio Citta della Quercia. During the same year, she also achieved respectable finishes by securing the 7th position at the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea in Rome and the 6th position at the Herculis in Monaco.


Anna Bongiorni earned a spot in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, which were held in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, where she competed in the 100m and 4x100m relay events. Despite giving her best, she unfortunately did not qualify for the finals in either of the events. However, she continued to excel in her performances throughout the season. She attained another national title by claiming the 100m gold at the Rovereto Italian Championships, and also earned the 200m silver. Furthermore, she showcased her prowess by securing the 4x100m relay gold at the Chorzow World Athletics Relays, 100m gold at the Sollentuna GP, and the 100m silver at the Spitzen Leichtathletik in Luzern.
In 2022, Anna Bongiorni achieved one of her biggest career milestones, securing the 4x100m bronze medal at the Munich European Athletics Championships. That same year, she also placed 8th in the 4x100m event at the Eugene World Athletics Championships.


The following year, 2023, saw Anna Bongiorni cement her status as one of Italy’s top sprinters. At the Ancona Italian Indoor Championships, she earned the 60m bronze medal. She went on to claim silver in both the 100m and 200m at the Molfetta Italian Championships. Anna Bongiorni also represented Italy in the 4x100m relay at the Budapest World Athletics Championships, where the team finished 4th in the final. Though she competed in the 60m at the Istanbul European Athletics Indoor Championships, she did not advance to the final. Elsewhere, Bongiorni enjoyed success, taking gold in the 100m and 200m at the Guldensporenmeeting in Kortrijk, and silver in the 100m at the 2° Meeting Citta’ Di Lucca.
In 2024, Anna Bongiorni competed in her second Olympics at the Paris game, but did not overcame the semi-finals in 200m event. Meanwhile, she competed at the Roma European Athletics Championships in 100m and 4x100m relay, but again did not reached the finals. However, during the season, she won the gold at the Cyprus International Athletics Meeting in 100m, and at the Trond Mohn Games and Boysen Memorial, in 200m, but also triumphed at the La Spezia Italian Championships.
